Janice Peterson is a Professor Emerita of Economics at California State University, Fresno. Prior to joining the faculty
at California State University, Fresno in the fall of 2006, Dr. Peterson worked as
a Senior Economist at the U.S. Government Accountability Office and a Study Director
at the Institute for Women’s Policy Research. She was also a member of the Economics
faculties at the State University of New York, Fredonia, and Wells College.
Dr. Peterson served as the Director of Economic Education for the Center for Economic
Research and Education of Central California at California State University, Fresno
(fall 2006-spring 2012) and as the Economics Department’s Economic Education Coordinator
(fall 2012-fall 2017). She also served as the President of the Association for Evolutionary
Economics (2011) and served on the Executive Council for the Association for Social
Economics (2015-2019).
Dr. Peterson's research interests include institutional and feminist economics, labor
and public sector economics, and economics education.
Dr. Peterson’s scholarly work is widely published, including articles in the Journal of Economic Issues, Review of Social Economy, Forum for Social Economics,
International Journal of Pluralism and Economics Education, International Review of
Economics Education, Journal of Social Science Education, Social Science Journal, and the Social Security Bulletin. She co-edited The Economic Status of Women Under Capitalism and the Elgar Companion to Feminist Economics, and has published chapters in a variety of edited volumes on institutional and feminist
economics.
