Awards

The Institute for Family Business solicits annual nominations from the community for the California Family Business Awards. From those nominations, selected families are interviewed and are honored at a dinner event. After all interviews have been completed, the committee and advisory board select the top family businesses. These are sent to be reviewed by three out of state judges who select the California Family Business Award Recipients.

All award recipients will be announced at the dinner. These will include ten outstanding family businesses, one distinguished family business, and one rising star. Outstanding family businesses are chosen based on several key criteria, including family participation, service to community, and distinction. The distinguished family business is chosen based on its ability to overcome obstacles, vision, and longevity. The rising star award is meant to recognize a newer family business (run by Gen 1 or 2) that have been in business for 5+ years, with their headquarters located in the Central Valley and who the judges believe is a role model for others to follow.

We encourage past nominees and finalists to resubmit their nomination for the California Family Business Award, especially if a significant development or event has produced noteworthy positive outcomes in their family and/or business development.

We invite you to help us honor and recognize the many achievements of family businesses in our valley. You can do this by nominating a valley-family based business.

Qualifying nominees must have two or more family members in the day-to-day business and have been in business for at least five years. The corporate office must be located in California and must have a significant presence in the Central Valley.
