Convocation and Commencement

University-wide information about the graduation process can be found here

Convocation and commencement ceremonies serve different purposes and for this reason all graduating students are encouraged to attend both. Convocation is a special ceremony held only for students graduating from the Craig School of Business. Each student is individually recognized, on stage, and has a picture taken while shaking the hand of the CSB Dean. Graduate students are also hooded during convocation. The actual awarding of the degree takes place at commencement. This is offiated by the President of California State University. Students are not individually recognized. Commencement is a Univeristy-wide ceremony, while convocation is a CSB ceremony. Faculty and students are expected to wear official regalia at both ceremonies.
