Dr. Vinh Huy Nguyen’s areas of research are corporate finance and microstructure.
His work focuses on how financial institutions, the firm, and its insiders behave
in the equity market when there is an information shock. Do these informed market
participants change strategies? What are the trading mechanisms they use to maintain
their competitive advantage? How do these informed players evolve alongside financial
innovations? Beyond his academic work, Dr. Nguyen is an orchid hobbyist specializing
in growing orchids in the Cypripedioideae subfamily. His Phaphiopedilum fairrieanum
‘Vinh Huy Nguyen’ FCC/AOS received the highest quality award from the American Orchid
Society.
