Dr. Fernando Parra is an expert in Accounting Information Systems and Cyber Security
with over 15 years of experience in supporting businesses with accounting and security
solutions in the medical, retail, legal and professional accounting industries. Dr.
Parra is honored to have served in several boards, including President of the Information
Systems Doctoral Students Association which promotes diversity in business schools
and supports future professors of Hispanic, African American and Native American heritage.
As a professor, Dr. Parra is committed to inspiring students fulfill their potential
as community-focused, business leaders. Dr. Parra is fully committed to providing
service-oriented instruction that is demonstrated by the students’ ability to remain
engaged in their assignments, their collective comprehension of the subject matter
and their ability to apply the absorbed knowledge in real life business scenarios.
Fernando was awarded the 2013 “Excellence in Undergraduate Instruction Award” for
Information and Decision Sciences by the College of Business Administration at the
University of Texas at El Paso. When not at work, Fernando enjoys being a great parent
of 2 Ewoks (Brussel Griffons).
Dr. Parra has presented peer-reviewed research presentations on enterprise systems,
cyber security, teaching strategies, and other issues in several forums, including
American Accounting Association (AAA), Hawaii International Conference on system Sciences
(HICSS), American Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS), Decision Science Institute
(DSI), Academy of Management (AOM), International Academy of Management and Business
(IAMB), & American Political Science Association (APSA).
