Dr. Fernando Parra is an Associate Professor of Accountancy and the Institute for
Family Business Director at Fresno State. He champions experiential learning in his
teaching, including service-learning opportunities that allow students to practice
their accounting knowledge while supporting members of our community. He is committed
to a holistic approach to student career development that aligns with up-to-date professional
standards. Dr. Parra’s stream of research is mainly focused on pedagogy and interdisciplinary
phenomena affecting businesses as they navigate an era of digital transformation and
other socio-economic factors. Dr. Parra has played a vital role in supporting small
to medium-sized businesses with accounting and other enterprise software in the medical,
retail, and legal industries. He has published and presented research on teaching
strategies, enterprise systems, accounting topics, and other international phenomena.
He obtained a Ph.D. in International Business focusing on Information Systems and
a Graduate Certificate in Accounting from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).
