Certificates

Eligibility

Applicants for the BIS certificate will need to meet one of the following criteria:

1. Be currently enrolled as a business major at an accredited four-year institution of higher education or
2. Have a bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited institution or
3. Have an associate of arts degree from a two-year accredited college and a minimum of two years of business experience.

Note: Students majoring in IS (or an equivalent program) are not eligible for the BIS Certificate.

Prerequisites

Before entering the certificate program, applicants will need to demonstrate that they:

1. Have completed at least six units of elementary accounting.
2. Are conversant in computer concepts (equivalent to IS 52 and 52L at a minimum.)
3. Have filled out the application form and sent it to csbstusupport@mail.fresnostate.edu.

Approval of the BIS certificate program coordinator or department chair is required.

Applicants for the DA certificate will need to meet one of the following criteria:

1. Be currently enrolled as a business major at an accredited four-year institution of higher education or
2. Have a bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited institution or
3. Have an associate of arts degree from a two-year accredited college and a minimum of two years of business experience.

Note: Students majoring in DA (or an equivalent program) are not eligible for the DA Certificate. Students majoring in CIS (or an equivalent program) should account for all elective courses in their IS subject area. DA courses should not be assumed to count as CIS electives.
