Arnold Air Society

Mission:
The Arnold Air Society (AAS) has adopted as its mission three interrelated objectives which enhance the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) and United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) commissioning programs and project the USAF image on campus and in the community.

Objectives:

  • First:
    Create a more efficient relationship among Air Force officer candidates, in particular within the AFROTC.

Function:
Provides opportunities for greater interaction among collegiate level Air Force officer candidates and encourages increased communication with Air Force officers and leaders in national defense, government, and industry.

  • Second:
    Aid in the development of effective Air Force officers.

Function:
Provides expanded opportunities for Air Force officer candidates to exercise leadership, management, organizational, and public relations skills.

  • Third:
    Further the purpose, traditions, and concepts of the United States Air Force.

Function:
Provides opportunities for officer candidates to participate in campus and community service activities, demonstrating the close relationship between civilian and military institutions.

Pershing Rifles

Mission:
To develop to the highest degree possible, outstanding traits of leadership, military bearing and discipline within the frame work of a military oriented honorary fraternity.

Pershing Rifles Company B-10
Established in 2013 at Fresno State, Company B-10 is the premier Drill and Honor Guard fraternal organization at Fresno State. Open to cadets in both Army and Air Force ROTC and civilians, we aim to create the best leaders and cadets for the military and nation through drill, teamwork, and physical fitness.

The National Society of Pershing Rifles
The National Society of Pershing Rifles is a military fraternal organization for college-level students founded in 1894 as a drill unit at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. It is the oldest continuously operating US college organization dedicated to military drill. Originally named Varsity Rifles, members renamed the organization in honor of their mentor and patron, Lieutenant (later General of the Armies of the United States) John J. Pershing, upon his departure from the university in 1895.Pershing Rifles became a National organization in 1928 expanding to include several other universities, with companies consisting of drill teams as well as tactical units. Together, these units form what is known as the National Society of Pershing Rifles.

Scabbard and Blade

Mission:
We are dedicated to developing aspiring and current military officers that emulate the Five Star qualities while fostering strong joint-service relationships.

Scabbard and Blade
C Company, 21st Regiment
Founded in 2016, C Company at Fresno State is open to cadets of both Army and Air Force ROTC. We strive for excellence in academics and military studies.

History
Scabbard & Blade was founded during the school year 1904-1905 at the University of Wisconsin by five senior officers in the cadet corps. The five founders of S&B were Leo M. Cook, Albert W. Foster, Victor R. Griggs, Charles A. Taylor, and Harold K. Weld.

The Society has become inactive on two occasions. These were during World War I and World War II, when there were no courses of military training in universities and colleges because every able bodied man was in the service. The first National Convention was held on May 11, 1906, at Madison, Wisconsin, and was attended by representatives of the four Companies which then comprised the Society. Conventions were held annually until April 1916, after which no convention was held until February 1920. This inactivity was due to World War I. Following the 1920 meeting, conventions were held every two years. This practice continued until 1940 when war interrupted the progress of the Society and all companies were directed by General Order to bring their affairs to a close. In November 1947, after seventy companies had been reactivated, a convention was called.

Silver Wings
Robin Olds Squadron,  Area X
As specified in the Silver Wings National Constitution, Silver Wings (SW) is a national, co-ed, professional organization dedicated to creating proactive, knowledgeable, and effective civic leaders through community service and education about national defense. This mission includes the following interrelated objectives:

Personal Development of Individual Members:
Local chapter activities and projects provide character growth through service to the community, which enables the individual member to develop a sense of purpose within and a responsibility to the local community.

Professional Development of Individual Members:
Local chapter activities and the national organizational structure provide members with leadership opportunities and the chance to develop professional skills. These include, but are not limited to oral/written communication, public speaking, and project planning and execution.

Civic Awareness:
Exposure to Air Force issues and personnel enables members to develop a personal awareness of aerospace power and the role that it plays in the national defense. The leadership and skills development objectives are enhanced by opportunities for members to actively promote aerospace issues in the community through educational programs, seminars, public relations activities, and voter awareness projects.

Canvas is Fresno States learning management system which allows students to access their courses to submit assignments, participate in discussions, view grades and course materials, access to course calendars, To Do items, notifications, and Conversations messages.
 

DISCOVERe infuses mobile technology into the classroom experience, providing students with engaging material through the use of laptops, tablets or smartphones. By integrating technology throughout the academic experience, students can master digital literacy skills that are becoming increasingly critical for jobs in today's workplace.

The DISCOVERe Hub is a place where anyone can receive assistance or training with their mobile devices or apps. The DISCOVERe Hub is currently deploying iPad tablets and hotspot devices to students who need them during the transition to online learning. FRESHMAN GE ePORTFOLIO REQUIREMENT

TRANSFER GE ePORTFOLIO REQUIREMENT

If you started attending Fresno State as a freshman or transfer student in Fall 2018 or more recently you are required to submit to the GE Program Portfolio for specific General Education areas.

You will automatically be enrolled in a GE Program Portfolio Canvas course to complete this requirement where you'll upload artifacts that were previously assigned in specific GE courses (assignments such as papers, recorded speeches, PowerPoints, quizzes, presentations, analytical essays, etc.).

GE Program Portfolio Requirement

Freshmen will submit an assignment from every GE course they take at Fresno State and write three reflections of at least three hundred words.

Transfer students will ONLY submit assignments from the three upper-division GE course that they take (IB, IC, ID) and write one reflection of at least three hundred words.

Students will not submit assignments to GE Areas for which they have AP, IB, Exam, or Transfer Credit and will just ignore these areas in the GE Program Portfolio.

The Learning Resource Center is the central hub at the University for Tutoring, SupportNet, Supplimental Instruction and Academic Success Workshops. 

The Writing Center offers virtual one-on-one appointment and small writing groups

Zoom, Fresno State's new video and web conferencing tool, is now available to all students, faculty, and staff. It can be used from any computer, laptop, tablet, or phone, and it works on PC, Mac, Android and iOS devices. Any Fresno State user can initiate a video or audio meeting, allowing Zoom to be used for any online meeting, whether between two or many people. Anyone in the world can join a Zoom meeting, but only a host can start/schedule meetings.

Fresno State Faculty, Students, and Staff: Use your Fresno State ID and password to sign in to your host account. No account request required!

The Student Cupboard is a free food and hygiene pantry for current Fresno State students. The Student Cupboard is located in Industrial Technology, room 144. You will need to show your Fresno State ID card.

The Good Samaritan Grant was created to assist Fresno State students who encounter an unforeseen financial emergency or catastrophic event which would otherwise prevent them from continuing their education at Fresno State.

The Student Rec offers eSports and virtual Workouts.

FAQ's

Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) is a three to four year program that prepares men and women to become officers in the United States Air Force while completing an undergraduate or graduate degree.

GMC is the first half of the program and allows students to tryout ROTC without any obligation. Cadets will learn about the foundations of the Air Force, customs and courtesies, and the development of air power.

POC covers the second half of the program and is available to cadets who have completed Field Training, (summer training for ROTC cadets), and have at least two years remaining towards completing their degree. POC cadets will learn leadership/management skills, national defense policy, and prepare for active duty. 

As an Air Force ROTC cadet, each semester you will attend a one credit hour class which meets once per week, putting into practice the leadership skills and management theory acquired in your ROTC academic class.
